Our Goals

  • To promote beautification efforts in the community
  • To maintain sustained litter reduction
  • To promote the proper handling of solid waste
  • To enhance environmental awareness through education

 

 

 

Projects

 

Tire Amnesty Event

  • October 30th-November 30th, 2019--- Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday of each week during these dates from 8am-4:30pm
  • Citizens of Madison County will be allowed to bring up to 10 tires at no charge
  • Please no rims, or large heavy equipment tires
  • No businesses allowed

Adopt-A-County Road (AACR)--year long event 

Renewal applications will be sent in March of each year; New signups are held in March as well

  • Created for citizens, civic organizations, non-profit organizations, and interested parties to contribute toward the effort of maintaining litter-free roadways
  • Person(s) agrees to pick up the adopted road/area a minimum of 4 times per year, and report the required information back to KMCB
  • All garbage from pickups must be disposed of properly, and is free of charge if brought to the Madison County Transfer Station; if you choose to dispose of the garbage at the Transfer Station you will be required to show your AACR Disposal Card before dumping. 
  • Please tarp/secure all loads before transporting garbage to the Transfer Station.

SPRING Into Recycling (held in the spring of each year)

Event: Saturday, May 18th, 2019  10am-12pm

  • Join us as we celebrate Earth Day each year and take advantage of the following programs:
    • Document destruction (up to 2 file boxes free, over 2 boxes @ $5/box)
    • Medication Take Back (expired medicines in original containers please)
    • Shoe recycling, clothes recycling, batteries, ink cartridges, cell phone, and books for recycling  

FALL Into Recycling (held in the Fall of each year)

Next Event: November 2nd, 2019  10am-12pm at the Madison County Government Complex (main entrance)

  • Join us as we celebrate America Recycles Day each year and take advantage of the following programs:
    • Document destruction (up to 2 file boxes free, over 2 boxes @ $5/box)
    • Medication Take Back (expired medicines in original containers please)
    • Shoe recycling, clothes recycling, batteries, ink cartridges, cell phone, and books for recycling  

KMCB River Cleanup

Next Event: October 5, 2019  9am-11am

  • KMCB will be sponsoring a river clean up event in coordination with Madison County's 4-H program. The meeting location for the event will be on Fred Goss Road, near the South Fork Broad River. For more information, please contact the Madison County 4-H office at 706-795-2281.

Bring One for the Chipper Christmas Tree Recycling

Next Event: December 26th, 2019-January 18th, 2020

  • Bring your old, undecorated "live" Christmas tree for recycling and receive a free tree seedling (if available, while supplies last)
  • Held at the Madison County Transfer Station
