T-Ball and Pitching Machine Registration
The Madison County Recreation Department will begin registration for their T-ball and pitching machine leagues beginning Monday, January 11. These sign-ups will be held at our main office at 1345 Highway 98 West from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. through Friday, February 19. Additional registration times are set for Saturday, January 30 at the Freshman Academy cafeteria from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, and at the recreation department on February 6 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The following programs will be offered by the recreation department: T-Ball: coed, non-competitive league for ages 5 & 6; Boys’ Pitching Machine: ages 7 & 8; Girls’ Pitching Machine: ages 7 & 8. The age control date for T-Ball is May 1, 2010. Players must be five by that date in order to play and cannot turn seven before May 1, 2010. The age control date for the boys’ and girl’s pitching machine leagues is May 1, 2010. Players cannot turn nine before May 1, 2010. The May 1st age control date has been adopted to be in line with the Little League Age control date. A copy of the players’ birth certificate at registration must be provided at registration. The registration fee is $25 per participant. This includes their game t-shirt. Out-of-county participants will pay an additional $25. Spring Soccer Registration
The Madison County Recreation Department will begin registration for their spring soccer leagues beginning Monday, January 11. These sign-ups will be held at our main office at 1345 Highway 98 West from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. through Friday, February 19. Mixed Martial ArtsInstructed by Jess Croya and Ty Lord, this class meets Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 at the Old Colbert Gymnasium on Colbert-Danielsville Road. Topics covered include boxing, kicking and grabbling techniques. Cost is $25 per month. Class is open to men and women ages 5 and up of all skill levels. Anyone interested should go to the gym during regular class time to register and pay. Martial ArtsBill Hodges, a Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics Instructor with over 20 years experience, instructs this class on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30. Classes meet at the Old Colbert Gymnasium. Cost is $40 per month with discounts available for families with multiple participants. Class features a combination of martial arts techniques including karate, ground fighting and weapon defense. Registration is taken at the gym during scheduled class time.
