JOB SUMMARY
This person is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising indoor/outdoor youth and adult athletic events and team sports. Work involves oversight of activities so that participants develop skills in a fun and safe environment. This position reports to the Program Operations Manager. Some evenings and weekends are required, depending on the event.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
● Train and discipline part-time personnel (scorekeepers, facility supervisors, etc.)
● Manage athletic programs. Publicize activities, handle registration, recruit and train coaches, assign teams, coordinate facility usage, organize practice and game schedules, insure all games and practices are properly supervised, resolve any conflicts, and book game officials.
● Maintain the sport pages of the recreation department’s website.

Purpose of Job:
The purpose of this job is to perform specialized work duties involving receiving/processing requests for emergency assistance within the Madison County Sheriff’s Office E911 Communications Center.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Receiving, classifying and prioritizing incoming emergency calls, as well as non-emergency calls;
Dispatching appropriate emergency service and/or law enforcement agencies and personnel by use of specialized communications equipment;
Receiving, monitoring and dispatching radio communications for Madison County Sheriff’s Office, local police departments, fire and rescue departments, Emergency Medical Services and First Responders (listed agencies hereinafter referred to as “public safety”);
Maintaining files for wanted persons, missing persons, and lost/stolen items, which includes entry/removal/modification into the Georgia CJIS Network and local databases.
Performing queries through the Georgia CJIS Network for pertinent public safety personnel, which may consist of vehicle tags, driver’s license information, criminal histories, missing/wanted persons and stolen items;
Acting as a liaison between callers and public safety representatives;

Maintain accurate cash register receipts and corresponding amounts of money in register; receive orders and run a cash register.
Scorekeeper:
Be at game site at assigned time. Secure team line-ups before each game.
Understand rules of the given sport (Basketball, Baseball and Softball), and record all information in scorebook.
Run a clock (when needed) for all games.
Ability to communicate with coaches and game officials.
Work with volunteer-based associations/committees as well as the public and address their questions courteously and tactfully. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Special Qualifications:
Be at least 16 years of age. A valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to and from job site. Certification in First Aid and CPR is recommended (or that ability to obtain within 6 months of employment). Drug screen and background check required.
Supervisory and Management Responsibility
For Field and Gym Supervisor: Will supervise assigned personnel for participants of all ages. This person must have the ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments as well as the ability to supervise other employees/contractors in completing a wide range of tasks; to maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude. Evenings and weekends are required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to use hands, arms, talk or hear. Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Tasks require the ability to exert physical effort in light work and also involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of up to 50 pounds. This position may require the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials to perform assigned tasks. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and field work to ensure compliance with departmental programs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The successful candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule to include days, nights, weekends, and some holidays in support of county programs and events. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as heat/cold, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, hazardous materials, unsafe structures, heights, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, animal/wildlife attacks, or animal/human bites.
