The Madison County Solid Waste Transfer Station is a member of the ten county Northeast Georgia Regional Solid Waste Management Authority.
"The Authority is involved in planning, education, and research on solid waste topics as they relate to general operations and compliance with federal and state law".

PLEASE BE CAREFUL, DRIVE SLOWLY AND OBSERVE THE POSTED SPEED LIMITS, & KEEP YOUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE.
THE TRANSFER STATION / RECYCLING CENTER HAS VIDEO CAMERAS LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE PROPERTY.
YOU MAY NOT REMOVE ANYTHING FROM THE TRANSFER STATION OR RECYCLING CENTER!
THE SPEED LIMIT FOR THE TRANSFER STATION IS 10 MILES PER HOUR AND IS STRICKLY INFORCED!

Rules and Regulations for the Transfer Station
Loads must be on the scale by 5:30pm
All vehicles must be tarped and secured before you will be allowed to enter the transfer station.
We do not accept construction/building materials, burned waste, or free flowing liquid.
Up to 8 bags of trash may enter the bag side of scale house (right side) at $1.00 per bag up to 33 gallon size; $2.00 per bag over 33 gallon size. You must be tarped and secured and be able to tell the attendant how many bags you have.
Citizens crossing the scale must pay .03cents per pound with a minimum of $3.00 to dispose of garbage. You must be tarped and secured before you enter the transfer station.
It is against the Georgia law to transport your garbage/recycling unless it is tarped and secured. (putting your tarp on at the transfer station gate is not acceptable.
You must drive slowly while in the transfer station/recycling center and follow the attendants instructions.
Citizens not following rules and regulations will be asked to leave the property.

The following items are accepted for recycling
Hours of Operation: Wednesday - Saturday 7:00am - 5:30pm Closed - Sunday through Tuesday
white goods - appliances. NO TV'S / COMPUTER MONITORS
Must cross the scales and go to the metal pile area, not the recycling center.
these items include refrigerator, washers, dryers, freezers, etc. but DO NOT include dishwashers.
scrap metal is accepted at no charge but you must tell the scale attendant when you arrive at the center you have metal, and weigh it separated from your household waste.
used motor oil - small containers only (see attendant) no 55 gallon barrels accepted
vehicle batteries - see attendant - no charge
tires (fees apply) see attendant - appointments needed for large loads
used cooking oil (don't mix anything with the oil)
