DEPARTMENT: Emergency Medical Services, Madison County
JOB SUMMARY: This position provides advanced emergency care to victims of sudden illness or injury and transport to appropriate facilities.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Performs advanced emergency medical care following the scope of practice identified by the service medical director or the receiving physician at the hospital.
Performs rapid and thorough medical examinations utilizing advanced techniques and equipment to aid in the identification of the acutely ill or injured person.
Formulates field impressions or diagnoses of a variety of medical conditions so that a treatment regimen can be performed.
Completes medical and legal documentation to be reviewed by local and state authorities.
Identifies unsafe conditions to determine nature of incident; contacts additional resources as necessary.
Locates, identifies, and triages potential patients.
Maintains ethical and professional behavior in all interactions with patients, bystanders, citizens, hospital personnel, co-workers, and agents of other county departments.
Serves as team leader for all persons at accident and illness scenes; coordinates and facilitates efficient and appropriate emergency procedures.
Communicates with hospital staff to ensure continuity of care.
Maintains inventory of medical supplies on truck; maintains security of controlled substances.
Completes various forms and forms, including hazardous materials reports, response reports, supply and drug inventory reports, and incident reports.
Operates emergency vehicles; operates radio equipment; utilizes map books and GPS navigational devices to locate the scene of accidents; inspects equipment and supplies.
Maintains and cleans equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
Reports deficiencies to obtain necessary replacement or repair of supplies and equipment.
Attends regularly schedules training sessions; follows state and natural guidelines regarding licensure and registration of required credentials.
Provides public education programs; participates in public relations events such as tours, presentations, and coverage of special events.
Maintains an appropriate relationships with co-workers and volunteers to facilitate an efficient team approach to the provision of advanced medical care.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Emergency Medical Services Director or Assistant Director assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Georgia Department of Human Resources rules and regulations, the Georgia Health Code, US Department of Human Resources guidelines, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 1999 National Standard Curriculum, county policies and procedures, county emergency service policy manual, and standing medical orders. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of related emergency medical services duties. The need to provide medical services in critical life or death situations contributes to the complexity of the position.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to provide emergency care to victims of sudden illness or injury and transport to appropriate facilities. Successful performance ensures the provision of emergency medical services to county citizens and visitors.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, other county personnel, hospital personnel, medical doctors, nurses, educators, vendors, and the general public.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must be able to distinguish between shades of color.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in an EMS station and in the field. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases and irritating chemicals. Work may be performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks and gloves.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: This position has functional supervision over EMT – Intermediate (25).

JOB SUMMARY: This position operates equipment in the repair and maintenance of county roadways.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Drives vehicle to job sites for mowing crew; transports equipment to work sites.
Operates a tractor, traffic roller, weed eater, saw, chipper and clean roadways.
Operates two-way radios
Flags traffic to direct the safe movement of vehicles near road construction crews.
Assists Heavy Equipment Operator with road maintenance projects.
Hauls construction supplies and materials to and from work sites.
Services assigned truck; checks oil, lights, belts, hoses, fluid levels, and air pressure.
Cleans and washes assigned vehicles.
Assists in the maintenance of county road signs.
Mows rights-of-way with tractor.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; experience with small or heavy equipment operation preferred or an equivalent combination o education and experience.
Special Qualifications: Valid Georgia Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as required by department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires standing or sitting for sustained periods of time; walking or moving from one work site to another; manual dexterity to pick, pinch, type, or otherwise work primarily with fingers; mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes; hearing to receive detailed information and to make the discrimination in sound; and the ability to express ideas by means o the spoken work and have close visual acuity. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, pols and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. Occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.

JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this position is to provide general field support to the full-time recreation department staff. This position reports to the Facility and Grounds Manager of the recreation department and must be 19 years old to operate County vehicles.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
General maintenance, prep and upkeep of the grounds and facility structures.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies ensuring availability of adequate supplies to complete work activities.
Assist in maintaining ball fields for activities and events.
Schedule Monday-Friday and reoccurring weekends as assigned. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and some holidays.
Repairs and maintains vehicles and equipment; maintains oil, belts, blades, filters, fluid, tires, and brakes; levels mower decks.
Maintains playing fields; lines fields; drags fields and tracks; maintains pitching mounds, and batters boxers; top dresses fields; fertilizes and aerates fields; mows grass; edges ball fields; applies
herbicides and pesticides; lays sod; install top rail guards on fences.
Maintains county parks; mows grass; maintains, repairs, and supplies restrooms; picks up litter; assembles and install soccer and basketball goals; transports equipment; maintains integrity of playgrounds; cleans concession stands; repairs fences; maintains landscaping; repairs scoreboards; collects water samples for testing.
Operates a variety of equipment used in athletic field management, including mowers, weed eaters, edger's, blowers and infield machines.
Cleans restrooms and offices; sweeps, mops, and removes trash. May include supervision of games/practices.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Must be at least 16 years old (19 to operate county vehicles) with a minimum of one-year experience in maintenance, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Experience is not necessary; however, it is strongly preferred.
Special Qualifications:
Valid Georgia Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as required by department. Certification in First Aid and CPR is recommended (or that ability to obtain within 6 months of employment).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to operate and maintain several tools and equipment needed to perform the job duties assigned.
Skills utilized include but are not limited to mowing, weed eating, raking, landscape preparation, fence repair, inspections, edging, and blowing.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Must follow safety procedures while using any and all equipment.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; working effectively, compassionately and creatively.
Ability to work well with volunteer-based associations/committees as well as the public and address their questions courteously and tactfully.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to use hands, arms, talk or hear. Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Tasks require the ability to exert physical effort in light work and also involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of up to 50 pounds. This position requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials to perform assigned tasks. Tasks may involve extended periods of field work to ensure compliance with departmental programs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The successful candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule to include days, nights, weekends, and some holidays in support of county programs and events. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as heat/cold, dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, hazardous materials, unsafe structures, heights, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, animal/wildlife attacks, or animal/human bite and must be available to work a flexible schedule to include days, nights and weekends.

JOB SUMMARY
This position must be able to make appraisals of real property of the more common types and assist co-workers and the Chief Deputy Appraiser with assigned work.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conduct field reviews of residential real property.
Locate and identifies real property, referring to various maps.
Collect and organizes building permits used to locate and value properties.
Verifies accuracy of map and parcel numbers on permits.
Research, analyze, and inspect property.
Gather all information necessary for appraisals, such as size, zoning, use, location, construction quality, depreciation and market data.
Lists property data and submits permits for data entry.
Assist the public with questions on property valuation and related tax questions as needed.
Assist the Chief Deputy Appraiser with records, maps, and public relations activities as assigned.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
